A new record was set by a Ukrainian enterprise – the largest aqua farm for shrimp growing operates on the Tiligul estuary (Mykolaiv region). This is the largest such facility not only in Ukraine, but also in Europe, according to SEEDS.

Penaeus Vannamei, or so-called king prawns, are grown at Tiligul Aqua Farm. According to the director of the company Vsevolod Kovalchuk, already next year the capacity of the enterprise will reach the volume of 500 – 550 tons per year. Most of the shrimp (70%) will be sold on the domestic market of Ukraine, writes "Vecherny Nikolaev".

The Ukrainian consumer sees mainly frozen or processed (pickled, smoked) seafood on supermarket shelves. The opening of such a powerful enterprise will significantly increase the supply of fresh chilled shrimp. The maximum delivery time for products from the aqua farm to any point in Ukraine will be 12 hours.

Water for shrimp will be taken in the Tiligul estuary. In terms of its properties, it is similar to that of the ocean.

The total area of the premises of the enterprise is 6 thousand square meters. There is a hatchery, a broodstock workshop, containers for growing shrimp, a waste recycling system, water treatment, a solar power plant, etc. The total investment in the project amounted to UAH 180 million. The expansion of the enterprise is planned to be extended next year. The payback period is 4 years.

200 new jobs will be created at Aqua Farm Tiligul. The specialists from the USA will teach how to properly grow shrimp for the employees of the enterprise.
