“Meati meat is a complete whole food protein, using only a fraction of the ingredients that go into making vegetable meat. Basically, the end product is just a spiced mycelium, ”said startup co-founder Tyler Huggins.
It is reported to be lower in calories because it contains less sodium and saturated fat than other plant-based meats.
The developers have spent a lot of time working with mycelium and how it is used. The idea of using it as a structure to create a nutritious, complete protein alternative to meat has been successfully tested. Americans will soon be able to test the taste.
“We're excited to start testing early next year and then strategically scale up across sales channels to make Meati more accessible to consumers nationally,” Huggins said.
