Scientists have proven the unexpected effect of cocoa on the brain
Scientists from the University of Birmingham have conducted a study on the effects of cocoa on the brain. This is reported by UNN.
During the study, the participants were divided into two groups. The first group was offered a cocoa drink containing flavonoids (a substance found in cocoa beans), the other a placebo.
After that, the volunteers were asked to pass several cognitive tests of varying difficulty. In the end, the cocoa group performed 11% better than the placebo group.
Scientists have suggested that it is in flavonoids, which increase the amount of oxygen in the human body. And this has a positive effect on the functioning of the brain.
Only real cocoa drinks, which are made from natural raw materials and contain flavonoids, improve cognitive abilities. And mixtures of cocoa, sugar and milk powder, processed several times, probably contain much less of the necessary substances.
