When growing replacement poultry in the first three days in the poultry house, the illumination should be maintained within 50-30 lux. This allows chicks to become familiar with the location, location of the feeders and drinkers, and can be encouraged to consume food and drink water.

The magazine "Our poultry farming" writes about this.

Then, by the end of the third week, the illumination is reduced to 10-5 lux, which will contribute to a calmer behavior of the bird.

The minimum illumination that stimulates egg production is 5 lx, however, the maximum egg production in poultry houses for industrial layers is provided with an illumination of 10-20 lx.

The duration of daylight hours for raising and keeping chickens in light-insulated poultry houses, the most common in Ukraine, is regulated depending on the age of the bird. The generally accepted practice is rearing replacement young stock in the first 2-3 days for 24-22 hours of daylight hours, followed by its gradual reduction to 6-8 weeks of age to 9-8 hours.

Light stimulation in egg chickens should be started no earlier than 16 weeks of age by weekly increasing the duration of daylight hours by 30-60 minutes and only when the chickens reach the target live weight. Light stimulation should continue until peak egg production is reached, but final day length should not exceed 16 hours.

It is not recommended to turn on the lights in the house before 4 am. The duration or intensity of light should never be increased during the rearing period. Also, you should not reduce the duration or intensity of light during the period of keeping an adult bird.
